Take part now: Data collection for the Rail Sustainability Index open

The data collection cycle for this year’s Rail Sustainability Index (RSi) kicked off on 16 June and will remain open until 15 October 2026. UIC members are invited to enter their sustainability achievements and contributions in line with eight key UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). A total of 70 key performance indicators are collected and benchmarked, with each member receiving their own score report and badge.

Make it count!

UIC members are invited to input their data for the 2023-2025 period into the RSi tool.
To be part of this year’s benchmark and results, members need to complete the report by 15 October 2026 at Rail Sustainability index.

Individual scores will be calculated for each company and sent at the end of the year. Additionally, each company that inputs data into the RSi tool will be given a label corresponding to its score.

UIC members are invited to support this collective initiative to make rail’s sustainability credentials visible.

This also provides an opportunity to have your best practices featured in the 2027 Global Rail Sustainability Report, due for release in Autumn 2027.

The 2026 publication will be issued in September with previous RSi campaign.
