The ceremony for the Belt and Road International Scientific and Technological Organisation Cooperation Platform was held on 17 November and was chaired by Mr Song Jun, Chairman of China Science and Technology Association of Beijing and Mr Yang Dan, Chairman of the University of Transport of Chengdu (SWJTU) (UIC member).
Mr Marc Guigon, UIC Passenger Director and Coordinator of the UIC Covid-19 Taskforce, gave an opening address for the occasion:
UIC and SWJTC will continue their involvement in the Belt and Road platform. Both organisations will be involved in conducting academic research, cultivating scientific and technological talent, hosting academic conferences, and making joint efforts to promote scientific and technological progress and advance the development of international scientific and technological organisations.
Cooperation is also envisaged in relation to high-speed rail and standards, including the organisation of hackathons, and the work will provide the opportunity for students to receive training and to participate in international activities or work with researchers on projects of international interest.
