The first scientific committee meeting was held on 16 December 2014 at the Foundation of Spanish Railways (FFE) in Madrid to define the main scientific topics of the conference NEXT STATION, the 5th international conference on Railway Stations that will succeed the successful 4th edition held in October 2013 in Moscow.
This Scientific Committee meeting was attended by Mr Mohamed Chahid, Director of Development of ONCF Heritage and Assets, Mr Tewik Bouarif, Manager of the Sales Department at ONCF, Mr Carlos Ventura, Director of Passenger Stations at ADIF, and Chairman of the Scientific Committee, Mr Javier Dahl, ADIF, Mr Iñaki Barrón, Director of Passenger and High Speed at UIC, Mr Marc Guigon, UIC Senior Advisor for Passenger Transport, Mr Atsushi Sakai, Japan Railways Group, Mr Takumi Ishii, UIC Senior Advisor and representative of JR East, Mr Zhao Zhangshan, UIC Senior Advisor and representative of CARS (China Academy of Railway Sciences), Mr Bruno Martinangeli, Head of International Affairs at SNCF’s Gares & Connexions division, Ms Marina Chubkina, Assistant of the President of RZD, Ms Ekaterina Kozyreva, Head of International Relations at RZD Station Directorate, Mr Andreas Heym, Senior Architect, Director of International Development at AREP, Ms Charlotte Wesser, International Relations and Project Management at DB Station&Service AG, Mr Alberto Rodriguez at Euskotren, Ms Nacima Baron, LVMT Chaire Gares, and Ms Ines Tortosa, Head of Cultural Activities and Communication at FFE.
The objective of the meeting consisted in discussing the main topics of the NEXT STATION conference that will be held from 21 – 22 October in Marrakech.
Each participant expressed their own ideas about the subjects of the conference in the framework of the global motto: “Stations – designing future intermodal mobility”, and taking into account that this conference will be held in Morocco. Some subjects emerged, such as capacity of the stations, urban integration, intermodality, accessibility, governance, information, security, environment, train operation, UIC studies, participation of universities, image of the future, etc.
On 28 January 2015 the Scientific Committee will meet in Paris in order to establish the broad outlines of the organisation of the conference:
- Topics and titles of the plenary sessions and round tables
- Topics of the parallel sessions
