As part of the UIC Middle East Railway Training Centre (MERTCe) activities, a training course on aluminothermite rail welding was held in Ankara, Türkiye between 4-22 November 2024 for participants coming from the UIC Regional Assembly of the Middle East (RAME).
The training programme was conducted by the instructors of the Turkish State Railways (TCDD) Ankara Railway Training and Examination Centre, and at the end, certificates were given to the participants from Iran Railways (RAI), Jordan Hejaz Railways (JHR) and Azerbaijan State Railways (AZD).
During their stay, the participants were also taken on technical visits to TCDD and TCDD Transportation, with future cooperation opportunities on training issues being discussed with the attendees.
Established within TCDD in 2012, MERTCe is one of UIC’s international training centres and is located in Ankara, Türkiye. The centre aims to find effective solutions to railway training needs, and to those of RAME member countries in particular.
