UIC is pleased to invite you to the dissemination day of the Resilient Railways facing Climate Change: Heavy Rains (RERA Rain) and Extreme Temperatures and Desert Conditions (RERA Temp) projects, which will be held on 27 March 2024 at the UIC headquarters in Paris.

Climate change is increasingly becoming a reality, and infrastructure managers and railway undertakings need tools to manage situations that, until recently, only occurred in movies... For those interested in what solutions are being offered in the railway community, we recommend that you attend the conference, which will focus on:

  • Forecast and climate projections
  • Adaptation strategies to extreme conditions: heavy rains, floodings, landslides, heat waves, sand contamination, droughts, and a so on
  • Climatic barriers and mitigation measures
  • Vulnerability to climate change assessments

The speakers will present the conclusions reached in both projects, with recommendations for the railway sector to increase its resilience to extreme conditions and, above all, to adapt to climate change. These will be renowned experts from the UIC members who have contributed to the projects, including SNCF, Network Rail, the Italian Railway Network (RFI), the Swiss Federal Railways (SBB), from within Europe, as well as others, such as Saudi Arabia Railways (SAR).

The final programme will be sent to the participants in due course, and, as seats are limited, we recommend that you register as soon as sign-ups open.
