The Moroccan National Railway Office (ONCF) and UIC Africa region jointly organised the 4th Training Cycle on Rolling Stock Maintenance, which was held remotely from 24 to 28 March 2025.
Over 100 participants from the north, west, and central African networks attended the 5-day training event, with the sessions being led by experts from ONCF and UIC.
The programme included sessions on:
- Organising diesel equipment maintenance
- Internal customer approaches to maintenance and role of coordination
- Remote diagnosis applied to rolling stock
- ONCF development strategies
- Rolling stock maintenance strategy at the Material Division
- A new generation of rolling stock maintenance
UIC experts, Laurent Frechede, Head of the Rolling Stock and Energy Sectors, and Henri Tsukahara, Head of Labelling and the working group on brakes, led a session focused on the general principles of maintenance, including five levels of maintenance, maintenance planning, and Entities in Charge of Maintenance.
Training is one of the key issues contributing to the revitalisation of railways in Africa within the Agenda 2063.
It is also one of the priorities of the UIC Africa programme.
